Buttercup
We fell in love with Buttercup after her carer put up photo's on PHUK in March 2011, of a cute brown snowflake snoozing peacefully on her lap! Well that was the only time we saw her asleep [until recently] and Buttercup turned out to be a real loon ... racing around everywhere, getting into mischief, never stopping for a minute ... until she discovered mealie worms ... Then she would stop just long enough to hoover up as many as she could, and off she would go again!
Her age was guessed at about 2 - 2 1/2 years, which makes her now 3 1/2 - 4yrs old. She has quietened down alot recently, doesn't wheel as much, and will at last settle down and sleep for a while on me [ not hubby]!
However, Hubby is her favourite toy, favourite game .... tag with his hand ...... She will dart about the floor around his chair and sit looking up at him, then as soon as she spots his hand coming over the arm, she explodes with loud huffing, but lets him stroke and play with her, huffing all the while. Sometimes she will scamper off, only to do a u-turn for more, If he dares to withdraw his hand first, then she will sit looking up at him, or paces about, waiting for him to do it all over again!
I'ts more like having a puppy, as the way Buttercup acts is more interactive than any of our other hogs ... if anyone comes to the door while she is about, she will run to the door to meet them, looking up at a[sometimes rather surprised] visitor.... She makes eye comtact alot, knows her name and seems to be quite intelligent .....
Oh , and she is still very smelly!!!
